Roberto Alvo, CEO, LATAM Airlines Group, assumes the role of Chair of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Board of Directors for a one-year term. Taking office following the 82nd IATA Annual General Meeting in Rio de Janeiro, he succeeds Luis Gallego, CEO, International Airlines Group.
Alvo becomes the 84th Chair of the IATA Board of Directors, having served on the board since 2020. IATA also names Mehmet Tevfik Nane, Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Pegasus Airlines, as Chair Elect, with his term set to begin in June 2027. Alvo says the industry must continue collaborating to strengthen safety, improve efficiency, advance sustainability, and expand global connectivity.
