TREx Pune & TRAVTALK Join Hands to Map the Growing Outbound Travel Market of Pune and Maharashtra’s Tier 3 & 4 Regions

Netra Events LLP and TRAVTALK sign an MoU to undertake a comprehensive survey and research study on the outbound travel potential of Pune and its rapidly emerging surrounding markets.

In a significant initiative to understand and unlock the potential of Maharashtra’s growing outbound travel market, TREx (Travel Relations & Exhibitions), promoted by Netra Events LLP, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TRAVTALK, to jointly conduct an extensive survey and develop a research document focused on outbound travel from Pune and the surrounding Tier 3 & 4 markets.

The MoU was signed by Devika Jeet, representing TRAVTALK, and Siddharth Jain, Krishna Gopalan and Mehboob Shaikh, founders of Netra Events LLP.

The initiative comes at a time when Pune and its surrounding regions are emerging as significant economic and commercial centres. With a strong and diversified industrial ecosystem spanning automotive, engineering, IT, manufacturing, agriculture, agro-processing, textiles, and services, the region represents a substantial and evolving consumer market.

The economic momentum is reflected in the Pune Income Tax region’s collections, which grew from approximately ₹50,501 crore in FY 2020–21 to ₹1,20,574 crore in FY 2024–25. Maharashtra also continues to lead the country in GST collections, reinforcing its position as one of India’s most economically significant states.

The research will extend beyond Pune to include emerging markets such as Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Solapur, Jalgaon, Shirdi and Karad.

The study aims to assess outbound travel behaviour, consumer aspirations, spending patterns, destination preferences and emerging opportunities for the travel trade. It will provide valuable insights to international tourism boards, destination management companies, airlines, hospitality brands and other industry stakeholders seeking to tap into these high-potential markets.

Through this collaboration, TREx and TravTalk aim to create a credible industry research resource that goes beyond conventional metro-centric market assessments and brings greater attention to the growing purchasing power and outbound travel appetite of Maharashtra’s regional markets.

The larger objective is simple: to understand the market better, connect the industry with emerging opportunities and position Pune and its surrounding Tier 3 & 4 regions firmly on India’s outbound travel map.
