Uttar Pradesh Tourism has allowed families, trusts, and private institutions to establish museums to strengthen heritage tourism and cultural preservation across the State. The initiative, announced in Lucknow under the Visit My State campaign, will support projects through incentives, subsidies, and infrastructure benefits to encourage community-led tourism experiences.
Under the framework approved by the tourism department, eligible projects meeting prescribed standards will receive incentives including stamp duty waivers, land conversion exemptions, and capital subsidies. Officials said the initiative aims to convert private collections, manuscripts, artefacts, photographs, and regional histories into accessible museum spaces, while creating tourism-linked opportunities through educational visits, guided heritage experiences, handicrafts, and local storytelling activities.
