Vijay Mohan Raj unanimously elected TAAI Chairman for AP & Telangana

Vijay Mohan Raj has been unanimously elected Chairman of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), AP & Telangana Chapter.

The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), established in 1951, is one of India’s oldest and largest organisations representing travel agents and travel trade professionals. His election is particularly significant as TAAI is celebrating its 75th year, marking seven-and-a-half decades of representing and strengthening India’s travel trade.

A veteran of the travel and tourism industry, Vijay Mohan Raj returns to the leadership of TAAI after a gap of 20 years. With several decades of experience in the industry and leadership roles at national and international levels, he brings extensive expertise and a global perspective to his new role.

Mohan Raj has also achieved a rare distinction in the international travel and tourism fraternity. He was elected as an International Director of SKÅL International, becoming only the third Indian to be elected to this prestigious position. He is among the select three Indians who have been chosen as International Directors of SKÅL International.

SKÅL International is the world’s largest organisation of travel and tourism professionals, with a presence spanning nearly 90 countries.

Speaking on his election, Mohan Raj said: “I am deeply honoured by the unanimous confidence placed in me by the members of TAAI AP & Telangana. Returning to the leadership of TAAI after 20 years, particularly in its 75th year, is both a privilege and a responsibility. I look forward to working collectively with our members and stakeholders to make our travel trade stronger, more united and future-ready.”

He said the travel and tourism industry is going through a period of rapid transformation, driven by technology, changing traveller preferences, increased connectivity and the emergence of new tourism segments.

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana offer tremendous opportunities for growth in domestic and international tourism, with Hyderabad emerging as an important hub for business travel, MICE, leisure, medical tourism and international connectivity.

As Chairman, Mohan Raj is expected to focus on strengthening unity among travel agents, creating new business opportunities, professional development, industry advocacy, tourism promotion and closer engagement with governments, airlines, tourism organisations and other stakeholders.

His extensive experience with both TAAI and SKÅL International is expected to bring a valuable national and global perspective to the AP & Telangana Chapter.
