Odisha is set to formalise a dynamic “sister-state” partnership with Japan’s Tottori Prefecture, placing cultural and ecological tourism at the heart of the alliance. Following high-level talks between Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Japanese Consul General Ishikawa Yoshihisa, both regions agreed to build a scenic and spiritual corridor to attract international travellers.
A major focus of the initiative will be marketing Odisha’s ancient Buddhist circuit alongside its coastal eco-tourism spots to Japanese visitors. By linking Tottori’s rich heritage with Odisha’s historic sites, the collaboration aims to create seamless travel experiences, deepening people-to-people ties while driving local economic growth.
