India’s Gen Z is increasingly entering the accommodation business, with the number of Airbnb hosts aged 18-29 rising nearly 40% year-on-year in January-June 2026. Nearly two in five new Airbnb hosts in India during the period were from Gen Z, while their earnings increased more than 60% YoY. Growth is extending beyond established markets: Indore recorded over 120% growth in Gen Z hosts, while rural destinations saw a 60% rise and low-density urban locations nearly 70%. Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurugram, Mumbai and Noida also recorded sharp increases. Nearly one in seven Gen Z hosts achieved Airbnb’s Superhost status. The development follows Airbnb data showing Gen Z accounted for over 40% of its Indian summer searches, growing about 60% YoY.
