Andhra Pradesh’s tourism sector marked a new milestone with the formal launch of a unified industry body, signalling stronger collaboration between stakeholders and a more structured push for destination development.
The Andhra Tour Operators Association (ATOA) was officially launched on April 9, alongside the unveiling of its logo by Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, in the presence of key office bearers and members of the association.
The event was attended by Founder President Raja Ramesh Balla, Vice President Vimal Jain, Secretary V Lokesh, Joint Secretary Krishnam Raju, Treasurer Mohan Rao, along with other members.
A unified platform for tourism stakeholders
The launch of ATOA aims to create a strong, collective voice for tour operators across Andhra Pradesh, fostering industry collaboration and enabling more effective engagement with government bodies on tourism development.
Key proposals to boost tourism
On the occasion, ATOA submitted a memorandum to the Civil Aviation Minister, outlining key initiatives to enhance tourism infrastructure and connectivity.
A major proposal included the development of an advanced War Memorial Park themed “1971 Victory at Sea” along Visakhapatnam’s Beach Road. The association recommended expanding the existing memorial into a comprehensive war museum to attract more visitors and showcase India’s naval history.
Another significant request focused on improving regional air connectivity through Alliance Air. The proposal highlighted the need to connect tier II and III cities from Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada to destinations such as Varanasi, Tirupati, Thiruvananthapuram and Madurai.
Positive response from the ministry
Additional recommendations aimed at strengthening the tourism ecosystem were also presented and received a positive response from the minister.
With its official launch, ATOA is set to play a key role in driving tourism growth in Andhra Pradesh, focusing on infrastructure development, enhanced connectivity and stronger destination positioning.
