The Adventure Tour Operators’ Association of India (ATOAI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, will host its 18th Annual Adventure Convention at Jim Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand, from December 13 to 16, 2026. Themed ‘India 365: Boundless Adventures’, the convention will focus on expanding year-round tourism opportunities as India pursues its ambition of becoming one of the world’s top ten adventure tourism destinations.
The convention will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, global experts and grassroots operators to explore ways to move beyond seasonal tourism peaks towards sustainable, all-season adventure ecosystems. Discussions will focus on unlocking the potential of India’s diverse landscapes, spanning mountains, rivers, deserts, coastlines and forests, while supporting the long-term economic viability of local communities and tour operators.
Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, Secretary, Tourism, Government of Uttarakhand, said the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board was proud to support the convention. He described the state as a natural home for adventure tourism and welcomed delegates to experience its hospitality and Himalayan culture. The event is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas and strengthen India’s adventure travel sector.
Tejbir Singh Anand, President of ATOAI, said India’s geographical diversity offered significant potential to emerge as a global adventure tourism hub, but seasonality had traditionally limited the sector’s operational potential. He said the convention’s theme reflected a shift towards resilient, high-standard, year-round adventure ecosystems, decentralised tourism, empowered mountain communities and expanded off-season travel corridors. He also reaffirmed the association’s commitment to safety standards, net-zero initiatives, environmental stewardship and Leave No Trace principles.
The multi-day programme will feature plenary sessions and panel discussions on overcoming seasonality, developing monsoon and winter travel corridors, and building resilient destination infrastructure. Safety and standards workshops will cover risk management, safety protocols and eco-sensitive operations aligned with national adventure tourism guidelines. B2B networking sessions will connect grassroots operators with national and international travel companies, while an exhibition will showcase adventure tourism products and experiences from across India.
Sustainability will remain a central focus, with the convention promoting plastic-free practices and measures to minimise its carbon footprint. The event aims to encourage collaboration across the adventure tourism value chain, improve opportunities for regional operators and support the transformation of seasonal destinations into year-round hubs. The convention leadership team includes Yog Chinmoy Dutt, ATOAI Treasurer and West-Central Region Chapter Chair, as Convention Chairman, and Mohit Gupta as Convention Co-Chair.
