Augmented and Virtual Reality transform heritage tourism; market to reach US$ 32.5 bn by 2034: KPMG report


The global AR/VR travel and tourism market is projected to grow from US$ 8.2 billion in 2025 to US$ 32.5 billion by 2034, registering a 17.8% CAGR, according to the KPMG in India–PHDCCI report. The report notes that Asia–Pacific accounted for 42.8% of global revenue in 2025. It says AR/VR are enabling travellers to explore digitally reconstructed monuments, experience historic sites through immersive 360-degree content, and access cultural narratives beyond physical and geographical limitations, enhancing heritage interpretation and visitor engagement.
