China will shift Chinese visa and consular legalisation applications in India from visa application centres to the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi and Consulate General in Mumbai from 26 October 2026, according to an Embassy notice issued on 22 October. The Embassy will temporarily handle applications from the Kolkata consular district as well. The Mumbai and New Delhi centres will stop accepting applications from 26 October, but processed documents can be collected until noon on 30 October. Applicants submitting online applications after 5 pm on 23 October will not pay a service fee; fees already collected for applications submitted before that deadline are non-refundable. The Embassy’s updated procedure requires online review before applicants submit passports and supporting documents in person.
