Fijians now get free tourist and medical visa to India, new initiative by the Indian High Commission, Suva

India has waived visa fees for Fijian nationals applying for tourist, medical and medical attendant visas through its High Commission in Suva, making travel to the country more affordable from 29 June 2026. The initiative removes charges that previously ranged from FJ$185 to FJ$452, depending on visa category and validity, significantly lowering the cost of visiting India for leisure and healthcare. The High Commission clarified that the waiver applies only to these three visa categories, while fees for all other visas remain unchanged. The move is expected to strengthen people-to-people ties between India and Fiji while supporting growth in India’s inbound tourism and medical tourism sectors. For the travel trade, the decision creates fresh opportunities to promote India as a value-driven destination for Fijian travellers seeking cultural experiences, wellness and specialised medical treatment, aligning with India’s broader efforts to enhance tourism connectivity and healthcare outreach across the Pacific region.
