The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) has renewed its appeal for the restoration of the Marketing Development Assistance (MDA) scheme, arguing that financial support for overseas promotion is crucial to reviving inbound tourism and increasing Indias foreign exchange earnings. Speaking ahead of the associations annual convention in Visakhapatnam from 10–12 September, IATO President Ravi Gosain said IATO is in discussions with the Ministries of Tourism and Commerce to reinstate marketing incentives and support participation in international trade fairs. He noted that the proposal has been forwarded to the Ministry of Finance and, if approved, could significantly strengthen Indias global tourism promotion efforts. IATO also announced the convention theme, India: The Worlds Next Tourism Opportunity, reflecting the industrys view that shifting global travel patterns present India with a unique opportunity to attract more international visitors. The association plans to submit a white paper with policy recommendations to the government following the convention.
