IndiGo is set to launch a direct flight service between Gaya and Bangkok from October 26, strengthening its growing India-Thailand network and creating a new international air link for Bihar.
The route connects two destinations with centuries-old Buddhist ties and is expected to support religious tourism, cultural exchange and economic activity in the region.
India’s domestic aviation sector also continued to record strong passenger volumes. Scheduled domestic airlines carried 729.40 lakh passengers during January-May 2026, up 1.91% year-on-year. In May alone, passenger traffic rose 9.49% month-on-month to 153.90 lakh.
IndiGo retained its market leadership in May with a 64.9% share, carrying 99.91 lakh passengers. The Air India Group followed with 25.6%, while Akasa Air held 5.8%.
Akasa Air recorded the highest passenger load factor at 92.5%, followed by SpiceJet at 87.4%, IndiGo at 86.4% and Air India Group at 83.5%. The overall cancellation rate remained low at 0.55%.
IndiGo also recorded the strongest on-time performance among major carriers at 82.8% across 10 major airports, ahead of Akasa Air at 78.3% and Air India Group at 74.5%.
