Ladakh recorded 405,085 tourist arrivals between January and August 2026, up 50.37% from 269,390 during the corresponding period last year, according to official figures. The eight-month tally has already surpassed the 3,35,872 visitors recorded during the entire 2025 calendar year by 20.61%. Domestic arrivals rose to 371,739 from 244,308, while foreign visitors increased to 33,346 from 25,082. August recorded 74,753 arrivals, a 65.38% year-on-year increase from 45,201. Foreign tourist arrivals in August reached 10,075, the highest monthly figure so far this year, compared with 8,148 in August 2025.
