In Japan, secondary cities such as Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima and Hokkaido have become essential components of Indian itinerary. Kyoto and Osaka are now included in 70% of FIT bookings, says Xavier Peres, Director, Speedbird Travels. He further added, “Average itinerary length has increased from 6.5 days to 9.2 days, enabling more multicity combinations. FITs now account for 62% of outbound bookings, and they are the biggest drivers of this diversification. Even group tours have evolved — 34% of GIT departures now include at least one secondary city.”
