Speaking at the 7th TravTalk ThinkTank, Suresh Nair, Former GM, AirAsia Berhad, said that the emergence of low-cost carriers fundamentally transformed Indian aviation. He recalled that airline fares were largely fixed until Air Deccan introduced dynamic pricing. He explained that low-cost airlines built their model around stimulating demand through lower fares, forcing legacy carriers to respond. Drawing from his AirAsia experience, Nair said competing airlines quickly reduced fares to match lower pricing, changing customer expectations permanently. He described the low-cost revolution as one of the most significant milestones in India’s aviation growth story.
