The long-awaited Bhogapuram International Airport has moved a step closer to launch after the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) approved its ad hoc tariff structure, paving the way for the transfer of civilian flight operations from Visakhapatnam Airport. The greenfield airport, developed by GMR, will initially handle around 6 million passengers annually and become North Coastal Andhra Pradesh’s primary aviation gateway. AERA has approved attractive incentives for airlines, including discounted landing charges on new routes and overnight operations, to stimulate network expansion. However, passengers will face higher User Development Fees (UDF) where domestic passengers departing from Bhogapuram will pay Rs 835, while arriving passengers will be charged Rs 355.For international passengers, the UDF has been fixed at Rs 1,255 for departure and Rs 545 for arrival.
