Mizoram recorded 6,75,284 tourist arrivals between January and August 2026, including 6,64,197 domestic and 11,087 foreign visitors, according to official data. The latest figure follows 5,01,751 arrivals during January-June, comprising 4,94,362 domestic and 7,389 foreign visitors, reported by the Union Tourism Ministry from State Tourism Department data. Mizoram recorded 9,80,618 arrivals in FY2025-26, compared with 5,24,784 in FY2024-25. Officials have linked the rise partly to the 51.38-km Bairabi-Sairang railway line, inaugurated in September 2025, which connected Aizawl to India’s railway network. The state is also promoting eco-tourism and adventure tourism.
