PM Modi inaugurates new Jodhpur Airport terminal building

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal building at Jodhpur Airport and launched the Modified UDAN Scheme, marking a significant boost for India’s regional aviation network. The revamped UDAN programme has been allocated INR 28,840 crore over the next 10 years to expand air connectivity and support aviation-led development across the country.

Developed at a cost of INR 480 crore, the new terminal spans more than 23,000 square metres and is designed to handle up to 20 lakh passengers annually. The upgraded facility features modern passenger amenities aimed at providing a smoother and more comfortable travel experience.

The terminal’s architecture draws inspiration from Rajasthan’s royal heritage, combining traditional design elements such as arches and jharokhas with contemporary infrastructure. Prime Minister Modi unveiled the inauguration plaque and toured the newly completed building during the event.

Officials said the new terminal will strengthen Rajasthan’s aviation infrastructure by improving regional and national connectivity. The enhanced airport capacity is also expected to support tourism, encourage business growth and generate employment opportunities in the region.

The launch of the Modified UDAN Scheme reflects the government’s continued focus on expanding regional air services. The revamped programme aims to improve connectivity to underserved destinations while promoting balanced economic development through aviation.

According to officials, the new Jodhpur Airport terminal and the expanded UDAN initiative will together play an important role in enhancing passenger services, supporting regional development and strengthening India’s growing aviation network.
