Air India Express has launched a new direct flight between Pune and Bagdogra, improving connectivity between Western India and the Northeast. The service began on Thursday and will operate five days a week, excluding Tuesday and Saturday.
The flight is scheduled to arrive in Pune at 12:25 pm and depart at 1:15 pm, offering a convenient daytime travel option for passengers. This marks Pune’s first-ever direct connection to Bagdogra, a key gateway to North Bengal and several Northeastern destinations.
Officials noted that the new route will significantly ease travel for students, professionals, and tourists. It is also expected to boost tourism and trade by providing faster and more direct access between the two regions.
Pune, widely recognised as an education and innovation hub, will now enjoy improved access to Bagdogra, which serves as a strategic entry point to destinations such as Darjeeling, Sikkim, and other parts of the Northeast.
The initiative forms part of efforts by the Airports Authority of India to strengthen regional connectivity and link underserved regions with major urban centres, enhancing overall mobility across the country.
Murlidhar Mohol stated that the new route will bring the Northeast closer to Western India, encouraging greater business activity, tourism growth, and cultural exchange. The launch event featured a ceremonial boarding pass handover, marking the official start of operations.
