Sustainability is becoming a key differentiator in India’s hospitality sector, with luxury hotels increasingly embedding environmental and social responsibility into guest experiences. Reinforcing this trend, Taj Palace New Delhi has launched the Paathya Green Studio, an interactive sustainability hub under IHCL’s ESG+ framework, aiming to inspire 1 lakh green gestures by the end of 2026 through guest participation in activities such as seed-ball making and sapling adoption.
The initiative is backed by measurable environmental outcomes. The hotel has achieved a 73.8% reduction in carbon emissions, 74.6% lower energy consumption, 72.2% reduction in waste generation and a 73.8% decline in air pollutant emissions compared to the previous year. Its in-house water bottling facility also eliminates nearly 600,000 single-use plastic bottles annually, preventing around six tonnes of plastic waste. The project also promotes inclusive sustainability by engaging a naturalist on the autism spectrum to lead guest experiences, highlighting hospitality’s growing focus on ESG-led operations.
