Uzbekistan has announced a 30-day visa-free regime for Indian citizens, in a move expected to give a significant boost to travel between the two countries.
The announcement was made by Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the country on August 30. The new visa-free facility is aimed at strengthening people-to-people ties and encouraging greater tourism and business exchanges between India and Uzbekistan.
The move is expected to make Uzbekistan more accessible to Indian leisure and business travellers, particularly as the Central Asian destination continues to attract interest for its Silk Road heritage, historic cities such as Samarkand and Bukhara, and growing tourism infrastructure.
