India is set to simplify its visa application process by cutting form fields by around 70% across 22 visa categories, with revised forms likely to be introduced in 2027. The Ministry of Home Affairs is reviewing the forms to eliminate repetitive questions and reduce documentation requirements, including district and local-address details, according to reports citing government officials. The proposals have not been formally notified, and existing application procedures remain in force. The move comes as India recorded 9.15 million foreign tourist arrivals in 2025, compared with 10.93 million in 2019, according to Ministry of Tourism data. Separately, the government expanded e-visa entry facilities to 88 international ports in August 2026.
