The Maharashtra government has initiated an integrated tourism development roadmap for Sindhudurg under its flagship ‘One State, One Destination’ initiative, aiming to transform the Konkan district into a globally competitive tourism destination. At a planning meeting chaired by Sindhudurg District Collector Trupti Dhodmise (IAS), officials outlined strategies focused on destination planning, infrastructure upgrades, digital promotion, visitor amenities and community participation. The proposed roadmap also includes developing thematic tourism circuits, strengthening destination branding, promoting local cuisine and arts, and improving transport and sanitation facilities. Director of Tourism Mangesh Joshi (IAS) said the initiative seeks to unlock the unique tourism potential of every region through sustainable development while generating employment for local communities. Home to attractions such as Sindhudurg Fort, Tarkarli Beach and the Konkan coastline, the district is expected to benefit from coordinated investments and cross-departmental planning. The initiative aligns with Maharashtra’s broader strategy to diversify tourism beyond major urban centres and promote high-potential coastal and heritage destinations.
