Singapore Airlines (SIA) has said it will carefully evaluate any future requests for additional funding from Air India, signalling a cautious approach amid ongoing financial pressures at the Indian carrier.
The airline noted that any decision on capital infusion would be assessed against its own financial priorities, including operational cash flows, fleet investments and broader capital requirements. The move comes as Air India continues its multi-year transformation and is expected to seek further financial support from its shareholders.
SIA, which holds a 25.1% stake in Air India following the merger of Vistara with the Tata Group-owned airline, remains a key strategic partner in the carrier’s turnaround journey. However, Air India’s losses have weighed on SIA’s earnings in recent quarters.
The development underscores that while SIA is committed to Air India’s long-term growth, future funding support will be subject to strict financial discipline and internal evaluations.
